When it comes to console and PC gaming, the PS4 has the edge over Xbox One in most categories, according a new study.
The study from PC Perspective and the research firm Trend Micro examined the popularity of video games across different platforms over a five-year period, taking into account how the games themselves fared on consoles and PC.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 are the two most popular platforms for video games on the PSN and Steam.
The Xbox One and PS4 have similar numbers in terms of both popularity and popularity over their respective platforms, but the PS3 still holds a solid lead in popularity in the online multiplayer arena.
Trend Micro also found that the PS2 was a strong platform for online multiplayer games, with the PS1 and PS2 taking a solid 10-11% of all online multiplayer players across the globe.
While there’s a lot of debate about whether the PSVita, PS3, and Xbox360 are actually the best consoles ever, Trend Micro’s findings clearly show that the Playstation 4 and Xbox one are still king of the hill in terms to online multiplayer gaming.
