The stock market in the Alturas region of Argentina has hit a new all-year high.
Matador Resources Inc., which manages the countrys gold mines, said on Thursday that its benchmark S&P 1500 index gained 1.8% in 2018.
The Nasdaq-100 index rose 4.4%.
The S&apx gained 3.7%.
Argentina has been hit by a wave of earthquakes and heavy rain that have been hitting the country in recent weeks.
The government has deployed the army to help deal with the aftermath of the tremors.
President Mauricio Macri has been trying to boost exports to revive the economy and is expected to announce a plan on Thursday to create jobs.
Argentina’s economy is expected shrink 1.3% this year to 1.2% next year.
The central bank has raised interest rates twice this year and has raised inflation expectations for 2018.
