What we know about the Reds’ summer recruitment, the transfer window, and when the season starts

On the final day of the transfer market, we take a look at the key players who were announced in the last days of the summer transfer window.

First, a quick note on the players who have already arrived in Australia.

The Reds signed two players from their first-team squad, with Joe Garner (St Kilda) and Sam Collins (Richmond) making the cut.

Both of these players will arrive in the coming weeks, with both having been signed up to a three-year contract.

Garner is an experienced midfielder with plenty of experience and pedigree in the game, who has played four years of senior footy at AFL level, having also played in the AFL’s SANFL.

In the 2013 season, Garner played his first game in the SANFL, and has played in a number of reserves, including the WAFL in the 2013 SANFL premiership.

Collins, who played four seasons of senior football at Fremantle and was named the club’s best and fairest, was also named the Fremantle best and fiercest in his first season in the WAL.

Garland played 13 senior matches, with a total of 25 disposals, 13 marks and nine tackles, and Collins played five games in his maiden senior season.

Both players will be available to the Reds at the start of the season, and will be able to start the season in their respective states, as they are already at home.

The next major transfer window is the first of the new Premier League season, which begins in April, with the Reds starting their pre-season campaign on Friday, May 3.

We will bring you all the news from around the country as the season begins, including a look ahead to the new year.
