How to protect yourself from climate change: How to prepare

The impact of climate change on India is not yet apparent.

The country’s resources are highly dependent on the weather and the seasons, and climate change is a challenge for the economy, said Dr. V.R. Raman, managing director of the Centre for Environment and Natural Resources (CERN), the country’s national research centre.

“We have already lost two-thirds of the forest cover in India, and the monsoon is going to disappear in the coming years,” Raman said.

“This is not good news for the future.”

But the government is taking some steps to adapt to the changing climate.

In March, the Indian government created a task force for adaptation, which will help India tackle its climate challenges and ensure that the country meets its 2020 climate targets.

The group will also study the implications of the new climate model, which the government has yet to release.

In the coming months, India will begin to install solar power plants on farms, and set up the first pilot carbon capture plant in the country.

This will enable India to reduce its reliance on coal and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, Raman added.

India has already cut carbon emissions by 17 per cent from 2005 levels, according to the World Bank, and is working to reduce emissions from its agriculture by 20 per cent over the next decade.
